Eclipse PDT sobre Ubuntu

Un post recordatori de com instal·lar un Eclipse PDT sobre Ubuntu.

  1. Descarregar la darrera release del site d’Eclipse PDT
  2. Moure la release a /opt:
    sudo mv pdt-all-in-one-* /opt/
  3. Descomprimir la release a /opt:
    cd /opt/
    sudo -xfz pdt-all-in-one-*.tar.gz
  4. Donar permisos adients:
    sudo chmod -R 755 /opt/eclipse/

Arribats a aquest punt ja tenim l’Eclipse PDT instal·lat a la nostra Ubuntu. Podem fer una llançadora al Menú Principal tot donant-li la ruta adient:/opt/eclipse/eclipse

Si ets dels que pensa que la màquina virtual de GNU-Java és lenta, pots instal·lar la màquina virtual de Sun seguint aquestes indicacions:

  1. sudo apt-get install sun-java6-jdk
  2. sudo update-java-alternatives -s java-6-sun
  3. Afegir la següent línia /usr/lib/jvm/java-6-sun a l’arxiu /etc/jvm
  4. Afegir la següent línia /usr/lib/jvm/java-6-sun a l’arxiu /etc/jvm i al /etc/eclipse/java_home (Si no existeix aquest darrer arxiu, crea’l)

Ubuntu 8.04.1 LTS

Em sorprèn de matinada un correu electrònic a la llista d’anuncis d’Ubuntu:

The Ubuntu team is proud to announce the release of Ubuntu 8.04.1 LTS, the first maintenance update to Ubuntu’s 8.04 LTS release.

In all, over 200 updates have been integrated, and updated installation media has been provided so that fewer updates will need to be downloaded after installation. These include security updates and corrections for other high-impact bugs, with a focus on maintaining stability and compatibility with Ubuntu 8.04 LTS.

Sembla que alguna cosa se’ls hi va escapar al tancar la Ubuntu 8.04 que ha provocat l’aparició d’aquesta release.

Ubuntu 8.04 LTS Beta Release

Ubuntu Mobile

La gent de Canonical ha presentat Ubuntu Mobile, un sistema operatiu destinat a dispositius mòbils que competirà, entenc, amb el Android de Google.

Ubuntu Mobile, a fully open source project, gives full Internet, with no compromise. Custom options may include licensed codecs and popular third-party applications.

A veure quan evolucionen aquests nous sistemes i deixen de ser juguets per les fires de telefonia 😉

WOT-Notary de Thawte

Si no recordo malament farà 9 anys, en David, algú més que no recordo i jo, ens vam citar amb en Mark Shuttleworth (Ubuntu encara no existia i encara no se sabia que VeriSign Inc. compraria Thawte) a l’estació de Sants de Barcelona.

El motiu d’aquella trobada va ser que en Mark ens certifiqués com a Notaris de Thawte per tal que l’empresa tingués certificadors a Espanya, si no recordo malament vàrem ser dels primers.

Nou anys després de tant en tant (i avui en particular) encara rebo algun correu electrònic demanant que certifiqui l’autenticitat d’un certificat digital i que em recorda aquella particular trobada.

Val a dir, que aprofitant-me d’aquella trobada un dia farà uns anys vaig enviar un correu electrònic a en Mark demanant-li suport per un tema que volia gestionar via la Shuttleworth Foundation, quan ja pensava que no contestaria vaig rebre un correu disculpant-se per no recordar la nostra trobada i informant-me de les possibilitats.

Un paio tot peculiar aquest Mark 😉
